4-H is the youth development program of Texas Cooperative Extension. The purpose of 4-H is to prepare young people to become responsible, capable and involved leaders and citizens. This goal is accomplished by providing educational experiences for young people to gain knowledge, develop life skills, live healthy lives, make intelligent choices and form positive attitudes/values that they will rely on throughout their lives. 4-H is "Learning by Doing" and is open to youth grades 3 through 12.

The Literacy Council offers a variety of programs including adult basic education, English As A Second Language, Pre-GED, Math, Citizenship, Family Literacy, Tutoring and Spanish. It works to increase public awareness of the costs associated with illiteracy while coordinating volunteer tutors and students.

The workshop provides meaningful training and job placement for individuals with any type of disability. Areas of skill deficit are identified, goals are established and training developed. These new abilities are then marketed to the community.

CASA of Trinity Valley recruits and trains community volunteers to advocate for children in the foster care system. Volunteers complete 30 hours of training before being sworn in as officers of the court. After which, volunteers are assigned by staff to investigate the circumstances of the children in a specific case and then make recommendations to the court regarding the best interests of the children ensuring the children's needs are met and they are placed in permanent safe homes as quickly as possible.

The Crisis Center of Anderson & Cherokee Counties is working to build a safer community for us all by educating children, teens and adults on personal safety, gender respect and safe relationships. By assisting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse, the Crisis Center is helping to rebuild lives that will have a positive influence in the community for generations to come by breaking the cycle of violence. The staff at the Crisis Center believes that the extraordinary is possible in all of our lives and in our community.

The East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (ETCADA) helps residents of Anderson County access drug and alcohol treatment. Licensed counselors provide help, support and education in addition to clinical screening and assessment in Palestine. ETCADA's Help Line provides access to licensed counselors 24 hours, 7 days per week for after-hours crises. ETCADA's Prevention Resource Center (PRC) serves as a clearinghouse for substance abuse prevention literature, videos, posters, and other training materials. Disabilities disappear with the love of a horse.Eagle Crest provides equine therapy to children and adults with disabilities. Teen volunteers gain training in communication and leadership skills. All instructors are NARHA certified.

Sanctuary House is trying to fill the gaps of other agencies with emergency coats and clothing, emergency groceries and other needs. Its primary mission is to address the needs of the homeless, empathizing on the needs of homeless single mothers and their children.

Meals on Wheels of Palestine, Inc. is a non-profit service organization which primarily serves the homebound elderly, with a hot noon meal Monday through Friday. However, meals are also served on-site at the Palestine Senior Center. To be eligible for services a person should be over sixty or the under sixty spouse of an over sixty person. Meals can also be served on a temporary, special needs basis to under sixty persons who are recent hospital discharges and under a doctors care.
